Nigel de Jong is a Dutch professional footballer who played for Ajax and current member of the Dutch national team. De Jong plays as a right back and in midfield, usually with an attacking attitude.
De Jong went through the Ajax youth academy and in 2002 made his debut in the first team. He became a first team regular in the 2003/04 season, which coincided with Ajax winning the Eredivisie title. In the 2004–05 season, De Jong was named Ajax Player of the Season.
De Jong made his Dutch national team debut in 2004. He represented the Netherlands at 2 European Championships (2008, 2012) and 2 World Championships (2010, 2014).
