Dirk Kuyt is a Dutch footballer who plays as a striker or winger.
Kuyt began his professional career with FC Utrecht in 1998 and quickly became part of their first team. He spent 5 years at the club. His last game for FC Utrecht was winning the 2003 KNVB Cup final against his future club Feyenoord. Kuyt was chosen as the season's Dutch Golden Shoe Winner.
In the 2003/2004 season he joined Feyenoord. He was the club's top scorer for 3 consecutive seasons, the top goalscorer in the 2004/05 Eredivisie season, and the 2005/06 Dutch Footballer of the Year.
Kuyt made his debut for the Dutch national team in 2004. Over his 10 year international career, Kuyt represented Netherlands in 3 World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014) and 2 European Championship (2008, 2012). In 2014 Kuyt announced that he would retire from international football. He played 104 matches for the Dutch national team and is only the 7th Dutchman to play 100 national matches.
